Abstract

In 1998 Bulgaria started a health reform to convert the national health system to the time proven German model. The Bulgarian politicians did not create a system even close to the German model because there was just one mandatory health insurance fund and no real option for Voluntary health care. A questionnaire encompassing 420 patients asked what are their needs and desires for the health care system and what the providers should be. In the article are discussed the results of the patients' opinion in the survey about the current health insurance problems in Bulgaria.
