Abstract

We have presented an analysis of the late survival after myocardial infarction by patients, residents of Sofia-district, treated with diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) In University Hospital „St. Anna" - Sofia for the period 1996-2003. The analyzed period varies from 1 month to 6 years and 10 months. The data are presented by the Kaplan-Mayer method. We have searched for correlation between the late death rate after AMI and the following factors: type of the acute phase complications, long-lasting control of ischemic heart disease risk factors and long-term supporting therapy. We have compared the results between the periods 1996-2000 and 2000-2003 as the latter coincides with the first years after the medical system reform.
