Abstract

Thalassemia syndromes will be health problem for the new millennium because of their incidence in many countries. Treatment of the patients is too expensive. There is not material equivalent of the psychoemotional and stress act on the patient and those near and dear to him Preventive strategy advantage is obvious for get control of the problem Thalassemia syndromes. b- thalassemia screening programs have been already performed in some countries for few decades. Screening programs’ object, conditions and efficiency were considered. Special emphasis was pointed on their economic aspects and possibilities for couples in risk. New possibilities for application of alternative noninvasive methods for prenatal diagnosis were outlined.
