AbstractThe systems of medical decision making raise a lot of important questions about their development and implementation in the area of public health. One of them is the informativity of the used symptoms, that has direct relation with the effectiveness of the existing systems. The applied mathematical methods indisputably prove that one significant part of the symptoms used in the description of the diseases has a limited role in the process of medical decision making. From economical point of view the using of the symptoms with high informativity mainly and the riddance from medical investigations, which results do not contribute to clear the clinical picture, could lead to significant economy of resources in the health care system. Data concerning the developing of several systems for medical decision making in various medical areas are presented. Address for correspondence: Ing. G. D.
