AbstractMonitoring in the health system could be approached as the first step in the process of Quality assurance. Quality assurance is a set of activities that put in place standards for monitoring and improvement of health services, which strives to achieve the most effective and safe care. The monitoring system is a system for periodic collection and analysis of data for selected indicators, which allows the managers to assess whether the key activities are provided according to plan and whether they have the expected effects on the target population. The monitoring aims are connected with the definition of: the level of achievement of the set goals; individuation of problems and opportunities for improvements; observation and improvements maintenance.
