Abstract

Authors describe the main components of the Master’s degree program in public health and health management which is carried out in the Faculty of Public Health – Medical University of Sofia. They demonstrate and discuss the original contribution of the program to the existing knowledge in the field. This paper presents arguments for the necessity of the Master’s degree program and defines priorities of the professional qualification of health managers. Authors elaborate the main job characteristics of the profession of health manager and identify the institutions where graduates are able to apply for manager performance. Special emphasis is laid on skills, knowledge and abilities needed for manager’s work which graduates achieve during their training in public health and health management.
