Abstract

The world experience shows that physicians need continuing enlargement of their knowledge and periodical actualization of their professional skills with the newest achievements in their sphere.  Not anyone specialists can argue the importance of this requirement to every physician at the present moment. But the realization of continuing medical education proves to be very complex and very specific. Because of that the World Federation for Medical Education tries to explain, that every country and peculiar region with similar problems will have to organize its national or regional system for continuing medical education, responding to the specific characteristics. In European scale it will be necessary to elaborate standards and minimal requirements for continuing medical education and a system for mutual acknowledgment of their validity and comparability and accreditation conditions. The medical education in Bulgaria has to be prepared for all this.
