AbstractThe article treats one of the approaches for changing higher medical education, namely the training of students from different health professions for teamwork - the so called multiprofessional education. This can be realized only in universities, which educate cadres at different levels - specialists, bachelors, masters and doctors and where there is a good coordination between the higher school and the local authorities. Besides that the institutions, which introduce multiprofessional education have to be open for changes and radical innovations, which is peculiar for newly established universities. The article discusses one special faculty, which is well known for its success in this direction. This is the Faculty for Health Sciences in Linkoping, Sweden. In it the aim is to educate students for teamwork and to secure an integrated care for patiens by means of this kind of education.
