Abstract

Pollution with heavy metals is found in anthropogenetically burdened region of South Bulgaria. The results show that the malignant neoplasms incidence in the region, studied by us increases every year. Several cytogenetical tests for mutation activity and stasis of mitoses were carried out. The data from the investigation of the water supply of the region show an increased incidence of chromosome mutations and a decrease of speed of cell division.
